Lawsuit In California Regarding Safety of Tattoo Ink

Posted by: Medical Tattoo Fan  :  Category: Tattoo Problems

Once again we are talking about the safety of Tattoo Inks and additives and the fact that though daily thousands are tattooed, tattoo inks and additives are not approved or tested for use under the skin in tattoos and many are potentially dangerous. In this case two major ink manufacturers in the state of California are accused of exposing tattoo parlor customers to dangerous levels of lead and other medals and unregulated chemicals.

Some of the concerns about the high levels of lead and other metals in tattoos inks are that they can cause an Increase in blood pressure, fertility problems, muscle and joint pain, nerve disorders, memory and thinking problems.

If the lawsuit it was decided that both companies Huck Spaulding Enterprises, and Superior Tattoo Equipment, as per Law in the state of California,  start labeling their inks with hazard warnings (Prizm, and Voo Doo Brand color series). The unfortunate fact is how many tattoo customers do you think read tattoo ink containers. I would guess few as most tattoo ink cans warn about potential health risk, yet the inks are used daily across the country. The way tattoo parlors get away with this is they have tattoo customers sign a release which absolves them of harm in many cases if you have an adverse reaction to tattoo inks and additives.

Some claim that some inks are more vibrant than others based on pigment content in the ink, the bigger question is when is the FDA going to start testing the inks and additives used in permanent make up and tattoos for use under the skin. How many people have to get skin conditions, medical conditions, and file law suits before we realize there is a problem here.

As we all know Tattoos are a very popular means of personal expression and widely accepted by young and old people alike, and the health concerns about tattoo inks and additives should be addressed by the FDA or another government agency that looks out for the safety of the public.

Unfortunately many who get tattoos do not realize that when signing the release at their local tattoo parlor they are playing with their health and futures, as the inks used are untested and unsafe for use under the skin. So before you go out a get a tattoo you should consider if you really want inks and additives used under you skin that could cause health conditions that could be permanent.

If you think you have a tattoo ink or additive based condition contact your local personal injury attorney to protect your rights. Also if you have a tattoos done and the tattoo artist is negligent and and used unclean equipment or needles that are not properly sterilized and you get blood borne disease like AIDS/ HIV or Hepatitis. Then again please call your local personal injury attorney to protect your rights as others have already done across the country.
